Problem Note 20511: FTITLE and FTEXT fonts have different settings on DBCS SAS® 9.1.3 and DBCS SAS® 9.2
If the FTITLE= graphics option is not specified, the value specified on the FTEXT= graphics option should be used. However, this does not work correctly with DBCS SAS 9.1.3 SP4. The default value setting in the locale DB is used:
For Chinese (Simplified), the FTITLE font is Helvetica, and the FTEXT font is Courier.
For Chinese (Traditional), the FTITLE font is HEI, and the FTEXT font is Helvetica.
For Japanese, the FTITLE font is MINCHO, and the FTEXT font is KANJI.
For Korean, the FTITLE font is KGOTHB1, and the FTEXT font is KGOTHB1.
Notice that the default FTITLE font is NONE with the SAS 9.1.3 SP4 hot fix. See SAS note 018019.
The current problem with SAS 9.1.3 is that once the NOGSTYLE option is set, if FTEXT is set to NONE, then the system tries to use the default setting font of the device, which results in the garbage. Moreover, under a utf-8 session and with a specific locale, the system displays characters
with the font setting at the registry. However, the font setting cannot get auto-change when the locale is changed, and this causes the garbage display.
With SAS 9.2, the problem is fixed and the FTITLE fonts are changed:
For Chinese (Simplified), both the FTITLE and TEXT fonts are New HEI (alias HEI).
For Chinese (Traditional), the FTITLE font is NEW HEI (HeiT), and the FTEXT font is
YUAN.
For Japanese, the FTITLE font is NEW GOTHIC, and the FTEXT font is KANJI.
For Korean, both the FTITLE and FTEXT fonts are NEW DOTUM (alias KGOTHB1).
